LGJC was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina. While growing up, he was exposed to many forms of music, which included old school Motown records, R&B, and hip-hop. Despite the messages conveyed in the music he was listening to, he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was 13 and was baptized at Community Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina. Shortly after that turning point in his life, LG discovered his ability to rhyme and joined a secular rap group that attended high school with him. He began to use the skills he was blessed with in ways that did not represent Christ and started backsliding in many areas of his life.
After graduating from high school, LG attended North Carolina A&T State University. While on campus, he befriended a man of God that introduced him to the New Covenant Christian Center where he was told to look at the gifts and abilities given to him. LG decided to join the Church's choir and met a Gospel rap duo, which sparked the thought of him rhyming for Christ. Although, he was not yet fully convinced that he could use his ability to rap in a way, which would glorify God.
The next year, LG transferred to the University of North Carolina-Charlotte but was still unsure about using his gifts for Christ. However, it was there that he met Stack when God placed them together as roommates. They had many things in common which resulted in them developing a strong relationship with each other. Two of the things they had in common were an interest in rap music and Christianity. So Stack introduced LG to “Moment of Truth”, an album by Cross Movement Records recording artist Da T.R.U.T.H. Stack soon recognized that LG had an ability to rap and later invited him to feature on an O-Line song for their "Grow With Us" album. Over time, Stack was blown away by LG's rap ability and desire to live for Christ, which led to the label inviting him to be apart of more songs. In 2006, O-Line offered LG a recording contract and he officially became a recording artist on the label.
While many know LG the artist, rapping is not the only way in which he serves God through ministry. LG became a licensed minister of the Gospel in august of 2006 and serves as a minister for Community Baptist Church and Road to Damascus Ministries. He has spread the Word of God everywhere from the pulpit to the projects to prison and will continue to do so in whatever way God desires.
